🎓 Received Your Results – What Next?
Once you receive your results, you’ll be able to access them online or in your school. Here’s what you need to know depending on what offer you receive from the CAO a few days later.

If You Receive Your First-Choice Offer
Fantastic news! You can accept your offer via the CAO portal by 5 PM on Friday, 29 August. Once you accept, you won’t receive any further offers in future rounds.

If You Receive a Lower-Choice Offer
You can:
• Accept this offer before the deadline and still be considered for higher preferences if they become available in later rounds.
• Remember: you’ll never be offered a course lower than the one you’ve already been offered.

If You Don’t Receive Any Offer
Don’t worry — you have options:
• Check the CAO Available Places list. Courses with remaining places will be listed and updated regularly.
• Explore PLC courses, which provide excellent pathways into higher education and careers.
• Consider repeating the Leaving Cert if you're determined to meet the points for a particular course. (We can help with that.)
Viewing Your Marked Scripts
If your results were lower than expected, you have the right to see how your papers were marked.
• Register to view scripts through the Candidate Portal by 8 PM on Friday, 23 August.
• You’ll be able to view scripts online between Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 August.
• This process helps you decide whether to proceed with an appeal.
How to Appeal a Result
If you believe a marking error was made:
• Submit an appeal through the Candidate Portal by Wednesday, 3 September.
• There is no fee for appeals.
• Appeals are reviewed by a different examiner.
• Your grade can go up, down, or remain the same.
• Appeal results are typically issued in mid-October.
Other Options Worth Exploring
If your plans change based on your results, keep in mind that there are many paths forward:
• Private colleges may still have availability and offer alternative routes to your chosen field.
• A gap year can be valuable – consider travelling, working, or volunteering to gain new experiences and skills.
• Alternative access routes (such as HEAR/DARE schemes or QQI/FETAC progression routes) may provide entry into your preferred course
Final Advice from The Tuition Centre
Stay calm, take your time, and explore every option. Don’t make big decisions in a rush. Talk to your parents, teachers, or a guidance counsellor — and remember, there’s no single “right” path to success.
